Bekal Fort

Bekal Fort is the largest fort in Kerala, situated at Kasaragod district, North Keralaand it is 69 km from vismaya spreading over 40 acres This observation center had strategic significance in discovering even the smallest movements of the enemy and ensuring the safety of the Fort.The Fort appears to have been built up from the sea since almost three fourths of its exterior is drenched and the waves continually stroke the citadel

Parassinikkadavu Temple

Parassinikkadavu Temple (1.9 km from Vismaya) : Parassinikkadavu is noted for the famous Muthappan temple where people go for worshipping Sree Muthappan. This is the only Hindu Temple in Kerala where Theyyam performance is a daily ritual offering.

Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary

Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary (72 km from Vismaya) : Elephants, sloth bears, sambars, mouse deer etc. can be found in the 55 sq. km sanctuary. Other attractions: Nature trails, soft trekking, bamboo rafting, coracle boating, stay at tree houses in Pariputhodu and Bhoothamkallu, bathing in the stream at Memutty.

Pazhassi Dam

Pazhassi Dam (59 km from Vismaya) : An ideal retreat for tourists, the damsite is famous for its scenic beauty. The DTPC provides pleasure boating facilities at the reservoir. Accommodation is available at the Project Inspection Bungalow and its dormitories.


Ezhimala (27.5 km from Vismaya) : The beautiful beach here has a hillock nearby (286 m high). Carved stone pillars and an ancient burial chamber can be seen at the foot of the hills. The hills are noted for rare medicinal herbs. A Naval Academy is being developed here. Permission is required for entry.
